Celtic faced the challenge of taking on Dundee last night without key players Callum McGregor and Adam Idah. McGregor was ruled out of Celtic’s previous win over Motherwell due to an adductor injury. Meanwhile, Idah suffered an injury at Fir Park after a rough tackle by Motherwell’s Liam Gordon, putting his availability for the Dundee match in doubt.
When Brendan Rodgers announced his lineup, fans noticed yet another change as Luis Palma was included in the starting eleven. Rodgers explained the decision, highlighting Cameron Carter-Vickers’ return to the starting lineup and the reasons behind other squad adjustments.
Rodgers shared with the BBC, “There are some necessary changes in the squad; we’re aiming to get Cameron Carter-Vickers back to match fitness, so he needs game time. I have full confidence in the squad—even those without much game time still bring great value. But in some cases, making broad changes isn’t feasible.”
“Callum could have played, but we didn’t want to take the risk. Kuhn had a slight hip issue from the weekend, so again, no need to risk it. The good news for Adam is that his scan showed no serious damage, so he should be ready by Saturday.”
With the international break approaching in just over a week, Rodgers looks forward to resting his players before Celtic’s intense Christmas schedule, which includes games against Aberdeen (A), Hibs (H), Dinamo Zagreb (A), Dundee (A), Dundee United (A), Motherwell (H), and St Johnstone (H), all within a four-week span.
