Report: European club may make new move for £12,000-p/w Celtic player; he’s their dream signing….

While Celtic are on track for another Scottish Premiership title, a European club has reportedly set their sights on one of their defenders as a top transfer target.

Celtic Transfer News

Celtic are currently leading the title race against Aberdeen rather than their usual rivals, Rangers, sitting above Aberdeen on goal difference with both teams unbeaten in their first nine games. Recently, Celtic maintained their top position with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Motherwell.

As their success continues, interest in reinforcements for 2025 has reportedly grown, with Chilean talent Dario Osario linked to Celtic as a potential addition for Brendan Rodgers’ squad. However, there’s also speculation of a key player potentially departing, as one of Rodgers’ defenders might be on his way out.

According to Sportbladet via Sport Witness, Swedish club Malmo has set its sights on signing Gustaf Lagerbielke, who is currently on loan at FC Twente. Lagerbielke, who previously turned down Malmo, might consider the opportunity in 2025.

Lagerbielke’s future at Celtic remains uncertain after limited game time last season led to his loan departure. Now earning a reported £12,000 per week, Celtic could consider a sale of the 24-year-old, potentially helping Malmo fulfill their “dream move” next summer.

“Impressive” Lagerbielke at a Crossroads

Since joining Twente on loan, Lagerbielke has struggled with limited appearances, putting his future in the balance. Returning to Sweden with Malmo could offer him more playing time, crucial for his career progression.

Once praised for his “impressive” passing by Celtic writer Ryan McGinlay, Lagerbielke now faces an uphill battle to rejoin Rodgers’ squad. A move to Malmo might be the best path forward, allowing him to achieve regular game time, and he may consider accepting Malmo’s offer should they approach again in the summer 2025 transfer window.
