Transfer Update:Brighton 20-year old Star Attracts Arsenal’s ‘Long-Standing’ Transfer Interest

Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba as they look to bolster their midfield options. The 20-year-old, who joined Brighton from Lille for £23 million in August 2023, has made a strong impression since arriving, contributing significantly to the team with 37 appearances in his debut season and already netting twice in eight matches this season under new manager Fabian Hurzeler.

Baleba has been linked to several top clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham, indicating his growing reputation in the Premier League. Despite the interest, Brighton is not under any immediate pressure to sell, especially after generating record profits last year from player sales, including high-profile exits of Moises Caicedo, Alexis Mac Allister, and Robert Sanchez for a total of around £158 million.

With Baleba under contract until 2028, Brighton has the leverage to retain him, as he is becoming an integral part of the squad. Former manager Roberto De Zerbi had high hopes for Baleba to fill the void left by Caicedo, and Hurzeler recently praised the midfielder’s rapid development and adaptability to the team’s tactical demands. This situation positions Brighton well to fend off potential bids, as they focus on continuing their success in the Premier League.
