Manchester City youngster Nico O’Reilly has committed his long-term future to the club by signing a new contract that runs until 2030, with the option for an additional year.

The 20-year-old, who has been part of City’s Academy since the age of eight, has impressed Pep Guardiola and his staff with his rapid progress this season. Although naturally an attacking midfielder, O’Reilly has broken into the first team as a left-back and featured in each of City’s last four matches, including a standout performance in the defensive effort against Arsenal.

O’Reilly was attracting attention from clubs such as Chelsea earlier this year, but City acted decisively to secure his services on fresh terms. Speaking after penning the deal, the England youth international described it as a dream come true, thanking his family—particularly his mother—for their sacrifices. He stressed that while signing the contract was a special moment, he sees it as “just the beginning,” aiming to push himself to reach his full potential under Guardiola’s guidance.

City’s director of football, Hugo Viana, hailed O’Reilly as an example for Academy prospects, praising his technical ability, intelligence, and professionalism on and off the pitch. He underlined the club’s belief in O’Reilly’s huge potential, while also highlighting the youngster’s character and determination.

With this contract secured, O’Reilly is set to be a key figure for Manchester City in the years to come.
