FLORHAM PARK, N.J. – It may not be immediate, but eventually, age catches up with top NFL players. This seems to have already impacted All-Pro left tackle Tyron Smith and now appears to be affecting the New York Jets’ star quarterback, Aaron Rodgers. In his 20th season, and his first full one with the Jets, Rodgers hasn’t performed as well as anticipated, with a 10:7 touchdown-to-interception ratio—one of the lowest in his career. His situation is further complicated by multiple injuries, from calf and hamstring strains to other minor injuries, highlighting the challenges that come with age. At 40, Rodgers’ durability is becoming a concern for the Jets, echoing the potential risks that surfaced when he joined the team a few years ago. Few quarterbacks have maintained elite performance beyond age 40; while Tom Brady stands as a rare exception, Rodgers appears to be struggling to match that level of longevity.
